Mental Health Training

IPS' training packages are in enormous demand throughout Australia. IPS train mental health service providers, Aboriginal community and youth throughout Western Australia, the Northern Territory, Queensland and New South Wales with requests continuing to grow. IPS attributes this demand to a number of important factors. First, all training packages have been developed uniquely for Aboriginal people by Aboriginal psychologists. This ensures that the trainings are able to encapsulate the complex interface between mainstream and Aboriginal perspectives of mental health and wellbeing. Second, all trainings are delivered by Aboriginal psychologists or mental health professionals as the primary facilitator. Finally, the packages are continually evaluated and reviewed for their cultural security and clinical best practice across different Aboriginal groups.

IPS training packages are delivered to a range of mental health professionals throughout Australia (both Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal) who work directly with Aboriginal people. Attendees range from Aboriginal Health Workers, Aboriginal Mental Health Workers, Social and Emotional Wellbeing Workers (SEWB), Psychologists, Social Workers and Psychiatrists to name a few. Additionally, IPS have developed a number of psycho-educational and intervention packages that are available for delivery to the general Aboriginal community (remote, rural and urban) as well as Aboriginal youth.
